The Case

Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Alinghi model features black and red colors. On the scale matching the Alinghi logo, red represents passion and, black represents technology. The colors are evident everywhere, from the perforated strap to the 44.25mm black zirconium oxide ceramic case.

The Dial

The red logo of Alinghi adorns the dial and the pusher at 2 o'clock. The dial also appears greatly inspired by the colours and materials used by the sailing team. The front of the watch is composed of a floating inner flange with applied indexes (with SLN), and a central applied module framing the 3 sub-counters. The hands are blackened or red. Two important things to note on this dial; first is the 12-hour recorder where the hand has been replaced with a sandblasted and anodized aluminium disc, which features the Alinghi logo transferred in red. Second, to keep with the regatta team, the minute recorder features a 4-minute or 5-minute tactical time display in red, helping with precision timing on the water.

Replica Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon, fifty years ago, Apollo 8 became the first manned spacecraft to orbit the Moon and the three astronauts on board the first men to witness the far, or dark side, of our celestial neighbour. To celebrate this encounter, in 2013 Omega dedicated an entire collection of black-themed Speedmasters known as the Dark Side of the Moon. Designed to highlight the unseen side of the Moon, all the 44.25mm cases of this collection are crafted in high-tech black ceramic.
